FROM DEBT DISTRESS TO ECONOMIC RECOVERY: HOW RUTO'S REFORMS ARE REBUILDING KENYA'S FUTURE
A supporter's story
Fellow young people,
As we look at the future of our nation, it is important that we evaluate leadership based on the challenges inherited and the progress being made. President William Ruto assumed office at a time when Kenya was grappling with a heavy debt burden accumulated over many years. This debt has significantly constrained government spending and limited the speed at which development programs can be implemented.
Despite these challenges, the current administration has undertaken major economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, expanding opportunities for businesses, improving revenue collection, attracting foreign investment, and supporting key sectors such as agriculture, housing, infrastructure, and digital innovation. While the journey is not without difficulties, there are visible efforts to transform the economy and create a foundation for long-term growth.
It is also worth remembering that during the previous administration, the Deputy President's advisory role was often viewed as limited with the former president allocating his roles to them Interior cabinet minister Fred Okeng'o Matiangi thus reducing his ability to directly influence some of the decisions that contributed to the economic challenges inherited today. As a result, President Ruto has had to confront and manage circumstances that were largely shaped before his tenure.
As young people, we must remain objective, informed, and focused on what is best for Kenya. Let us support policies that create jobs, empower entrepreneurship, expand opportunities, and strengthen our economy. Nation-building is a collective responsibility, and progress requires patience, constructive engagement, and a commitment to seeing reforms succeed.
Kenya's future belongs to us. Let us participate actively, hold leaders accountable, and support initiatives that move our country forward.
